A Flexible Corporate Headquarters for 1,200 Employees

How do you leverage a business model based upon five separate business units in a new corporate headquarters? Plan for flexibility. Mesirow Financial combined multiple downtown locations into a new headquarters project. As an anchor tenant, Mesirow had influence over the base building design. Allowing each business unit the opportunity to grow at their own rate, the design systems employed were geared for maximum flexibility. Demountable wall systems were designed as a ‘kit of parts’. Quick office modifications were crucial while maintaining acoustical privacy equivalent to traditional drywall offices. A conference center with 22 conference rooms was created to serve all business units and increase collaboration. Careful planning led to a flexible growth environment.
